Meet the Chang Family
Suzy was the glue that held our family together when my newborn was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. She was great with the specialized infant care helping with high calorie feeds, weighing him, bathing him, and he was very sweet to him playing music and talking to him. She took care of me when I got mastitis and taught me how to unclog a plugged duct. She also taught me multiple breastfeeding techniques. She fed my whole family healthy meals and took care of my toddler when he was home from school. I would go to sleep and awake to a made bed, clean laundry and a fresh lunch. She made my husband and I feel human again. Thank you Suzy!

We were so grateful to have found Suzy and have her as part of my postpartum experience. She was truly like a helpful family member, but without being intrusive or judgmental. As a first time mom, I didn't have the mental bandwidth after delivering to think of what I needed and what the baby needed - Suzy gently came into our home and provided us with much needed structure and options for those early days. She really took initiative and did what needed to be done for me, baby, and the house. Suzy would notice that baby's laundry needed to be done, dinner needed to be made and our overripe bananas needed to be turned into banana bread. As other reviewers have noted - Suzy is an incredible cook and we loved every single nourishing meal. She also kept track of when I ate and whether I was drinking enough water. I didn't have to think much and that was so great. I was able to simply focus on the baby and my own recovery. When I needed to rest, I felt completely comfortable leaving baby with Suzy and taking a long shower and nap. It was small breaks and moments of care that helped so much mentally. Suzy also was a huge help with breastfeeding and setting up baby and me for successful feeds. She provided a great recommendation for a lactation consultant after another LC consult had gone poorly. Towards the end of our time together I felt like a much more confident mom in no small part thanks to her.

Meet the Werner’s!
A beautiful family with three children ages 5,3 and a newborn.
Meet the Sharan Family
Suzy offered much needed support during my C-Section recovery. I wasn’t sure if we needed a postpartum doula but 100% glad I listened to the many voices who encouraged us to consider one. I ended up delivering one week early and Suzy accommodated our needs with her schedule immediately.
As first-time parents, we had many questions every day from breastfeeding to infant care and Suzy made us confident parents by the end of her time with us. She also helped us out with laundry, cooking hot meals (SO nice to look forward to that after sleepless nights!), taking good care of our baby, and keeping our home organized.

Suzy the Doula
from the Dad's Perspective
As a dad and a husband, Suzy was invaluable! Suzy was there for us during and after the birth of our daughter, and I cannot recommend her enough. The arrival of our daughter during the pandemic was a unique experience, and with a 4-year-old son at home, we had many logistical challenges and concerns to figure out, like how to manage the trip to the hospital at whatever hour that would be. Suzy was super supportive and flexible; she agreed to be on-call 24/7, and stay at our home with our son while I took my wife to the hospital.
After the birth of our daughter, having Suzy as our Postpartum Doula proved invaluable. I wanted to look after my wife who had a CS while also making sure our 4 yr old son (who was "adjusting") got enough attention and exercise. I honestly don't know how we would've done it without Suzy. There wasn't enough of me to go around, to say nothing of standard sleep deprivation that comes with a newborn.
I had originally assumed we were hiring Suzy for my wife and daughter. But It turned out, Suzy was just as valuable to me. Suzy was super flexible and supportive for our whole family. For several weeks, Suzy gave doula support to my wife as needed, and spent a lot of time with our son, who now adores her - she's fantastic with kids! In addition to that, Suzy created menus, shopped for groceries, and cooked delicious meals for our whole family! Oh, and she took our dog for walks twice a day. All in all, Suzy took a load off my shoulders, so that I was able to have time for my wife and newborn girl (and for myself). As a husband and dad, I cannot recommend Suzy the Doula highly enough.

Meet the Kane’s
Working with Suzy as my postpartum doula has been fabulous! She is warm, caring, and detail-oriented. She supported us during my wife's transition back to work over several months with our newborn daughter. She always arrived on time, bringing a bright and cheerful spirit into our home (often after some long nights of being up with a new baby)! She was always a welcome sight and presence. Suzy has helped in caring for our baby--everything from diaper changes, burping, naps and swaddling, baths, playing, tummy time, etc. This support allowed me to get some well-needed rest, attend appointments as needed, and even shower! Suzy has always been very proactive in identifying additional tasks she could also get done during our time together, often tackling more than one at a time. She is a wonderful and creative cook! Suzy has also helped out with light cleaning and house tasks - washing and folding laundry, vacuuming, cleaning up the kitchen, sterilizing bottles and pump parts, and generally picking up anything she noticed out of place around our home. I was so pleased with our initial time with Suzy that we actually extended our agreement and time with her. Our daughter loves her and we trust her…could not ask for more, especially at a challenging time with a newborn. Thanks, Suzy!!

Meet Jo and Tom
We are so glad we found Suzy for our postpartum experience. She came highly recommended, and we quickly found out why. Before starting work with us, Suzy was very interested in tailoring our doula experience to meet our needs and what we wanted to get out of it, but also gave us great ideas and examples since we were feeling a bit tired and overwhelmed from the hospital. She understood that and made putting together a loose plan easy. She offers a lot of doula services but what we realized we needed most was infant care, breastfeeding help, cooking, and laundry. Once we came home from the hospital, she arrived cheerful every morning, seemed to blend right into our household (with our dog and all) and came ready to multitask. She was great with our newborn son immediately and gave us a lot of helpful tips. We always felt comfortable getting a break or going to take a nap and leaving him with her.
We also had a complicated breastfeeding situation because of some unique factors, and Suzy was helpful and knowledgeable with getting us started and guiding us during breastfeeding sessions. She also connected us with a great lactation consultant, which we may have stalled on otherwise (she has a good network of resources). In general, she was very thoughtful about wanting to be in sync with our son's pediatrician and any care plans. The cooking was nourishing and amazing. Suzy can whip up anything in the kitchen and gave us a helpful list of groceries to buy when we weren’t sure what we wanted to eat but told her we were flexible. We just got them all and she turned them into healthy, delicious (and not boring) meals. Having laundry done and folded without even thinking about it was a great bonus. We came out of the experience with Suzy feeling so much more rested, well-fed and confident as new parents!
Treat yourself to Suzy!

Suzy has been such a blessing to my family. She's warm and kind. A lovely presence. I'm very thankful I had her help right after having my second baby. She prepared delicious warm meals and incredible lactation cookies. She made sure I rested as much as possible as I recovered and we even binged a Netflix show together haha. Furthermore, she has a great deal of knowledge about breastfeeding which is an added bonus. She always made sure my baby was well-fed before leaving my house.
I highly recommend using her services if you're curious about which doula to hire in the DMV area.

Meet Bridget and Brian!
Honestly, we weren’t really familiar with the work of a postpartum doula, but once we talked with Suzanne, we knew we needed her services! Given that our families wouldn’t be able to travel across the country during the pandemic, we were really nervous for those first few weeks after bringing our daughter home. No one can replace the comfort of your mother at the time when you need her the most, but darn did Suzy come close! With a positive, upbeat attitude and a caretaker’s heart, we truly felt loved by her. As a first-time mom who delivered via c-section, I didn’t realize how much care I would need while also providing care for my baby. Suzy calmed our daughter while I took a much-needed nap, helped train me in the daunting act that is breastfeeding, and prepared fabulous, healthy meals for us so that we didn’t order take-out every night. She was extremely professional and took all the necessary precautions when it came to protecting us and herself from COVID-19. Suzy essentially worked herself out of a job by ensuring that we felt comfortable as first-time parents tackling it alone. Now, even though she is no longer working with us as a doula, we consider her a good friend! We are also happy to act as references if you need!

“Suzy was exactly what I needed to bring a calm, supportive presence into the home after my second birth. She was great with my toddler, made sure my partner and I were getting enough rest, helped with first baths and breastfeeding, and truly made the first few weeks postpartum a wonderful experience.”

Meet Robyn Jones
Suzy was referred to us for baby# 2’s arrival. You would think we would be ready and experienced to welcome baby#2 since this was our second time around. We were blessed to have Suzy’s support during those first few months after the birth of our darling daughter Mia. In fact, we needed more help since we have an active child running around who wouldn’t have understood that Mommy and Daddy are tired. Suzy entered our home with a smile ready to spend time caring for our children. There are not many people I would trust to hand my newborn over to but I knew Mia was in good hands with Suzy. She was deeply nurturing, patient and supportive in helping us take care of a newborn and succeed with breastfeeding. Her support was truly invaluable, she is a genuinely nice person and we are so grateful to have her as part of our family!"

Meet Alessandra and Chris
I wanted to second the recommendation for Suzy the Doula. I bought her “Two Weeks and On Your Feet” packages and she was fantastic! She helped me with meal prep, laundry, baby care and basic errands. She made sure I was eating healthy food and that I got outside each day for a bit without the baby, which was a big help. Suzy offered support and advice for my PPA which I really appreciated. She also helped connect me with breastfeeding resources through her doula network.
When I got a stomach bug she rearranged her schedule to come help me and even offered weekend hours. She clearly cares a lot about the moms she works with and was great with my infant. She is very careful about masks and COVID precautions. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for some postpartum support!
