Welcoming a new baby is exciting and exhausting for the newly minted parents. Support is a crucial piece of your recovery. That’s where I, Suzy the Doula come in: helping everyone adjust to this wondrous time in your lives.
A day in your life with Suzy Doula could look like this.
I will sit down beside you and show you how your baby’s adorable behaviors are actually an early sign of hunger. I will help you get cozy and comfortable so that your baby can latch at your breast or I will prepare a bottle.
Together we will decide on nutritious food that I can skillfully prepare to satisfy both your heart, and your baby’s hunger. Before you even notice that you’re hungry, I’m in the kitchen preparing you a snack. When I return, I will work to help you find a comfortable position to comfort your baby in.
Is your baby fussy and causing you some emotional distress? Let’s talk it through and I will make some suggestions. You can decide on the best approach and once your stress is gone, the baby will settle almost immediately. Now the baby is ready for a nap and somehow with very little prompting, you share with me how you’re feeling.
I mean how you are really feeling.
You might talk about feelings of not always being sure of what you’re doing… or why….
My role is to normalize this for you and half an hour later you feel as if all is right in the world.
You feel proud! Proud of yourself. Proud of your baby. Proud of your early parenting abilities! Then maybe it’s time for you to have a nice nap or a shower? I will be attending to your baby while you take some well-deserved time for yourself.
